You are purchasing 30cms/12inches of gimp.

I stock two types of gimp one from an English wholesaler A, B, C, D, E, F,and another from The Beadsmith, Fine, Medium, Heavy, Extra Heavy. Both use rectangular wire, but the English is  much finer wire.

The purpose of gimp is to protect your thread, as frequent movement of your  threading medium, nylon, silk, tigertail etc. on metal will eventually wear it away, and your necklace will break.

You only need a piece of gimp 4-6mm long at each side of your clasp, depending on the thickness of metal you are putting your gimp round. So 1 piece 30cms will make you 15 necklaces, if you average  5mm per end.

Size A:- Internal Diameter  .6mm       The size of wire used to make this gimp is .04x.14mm

Size B:- Internal Diameter .7mm (Use no stretch nylon bead thread size 2 with this size gimp).

Size C:- Internal Diameter .8mm (Use no stretch nylon bead thread size 4 with this size gimp).

Size D:- Internal Diameter .85mm

Size E:- Internal Diameter .9mm (Use no stretch nylon bead thread size 6 with this size gimp). This size has been discontinued by the manufacturer.

Size F:- Internal Diameter 1.mm  The size of wire used to make this gimp is .08x.1mm
